One of our service technicians recently performed a termite inspection in Sinnamon Park Qld, uncovering the early stages of activity and damage, demonstrating how all homes require vigilance and frequent inspections in order to be safe from termites in our region.
What termite damage was found?
There was some slight damage on the window sill and architrave, with some mudding on the skirting board. While there had previously been some termite activity, and the home is currently protected by a physical mesh barrier system, it had been incorrectly installed, allowing the termites unseen access to the home.
Finding only a couple of ‘coptotermes’ soldiers (a small subterranean termite species), and with no in-wall activity on the TermaTrac device (in-wall radar and detection device our technicians use to help pinpoint activity), opening the wall revealed the extent of the termite damage, with a couple of studs chewed but the bottom plate virtually demolished. The beginnings of a substantial nest (pictured) was also discovered.
How did we resolve the problem?
Our technician devised and applied the appropriate treatment for this situation, ensuring any remaining termites were eradicated, and the remaining points of access were closed off via a chemical barrier. While repeated inspections will be required going forward, this infestation was caught in time before the repair bill became too expensive.
